Purpose: The Environmental Chemistry Engagement and Impact Award recognizes outstanding contributions by individuals or teams who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, creativity, and impact in advancing engagement in environmental chemistry and engineering. The award highlights efforts that connect research, education, and community partnerships to address pressing environmental challenges and to inspire broader societal understanding of environmental chemistry. The award recognizes impactful service to the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Environmental Chemistry (ENVR).
Description: One awardee will be selected each year. The awardee will receive a plaque and $2,000. The awardee is expected to attend and be recognized at the Fall ACS National Meeting.
Eligibility: Nominees must be members of the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry at the time of nomination.
- Eligible nominees include faculty, researchers, practitioners, industry professionals, or teams who have advanced the practice and visibility of environmental chemistry through engagement and impact-focused initiatives.
- Activities considered for this award may include (but are not limited to):
- Public or community engagement initiatives related to environmental chemistry.
- Translational research projects demonstrating measurable societal or environmental impact.
- Educational or outreach programs that expand access and broaden participation in environmental chemistry.
- Efforts that inform policy, technology adoption, or sustainable practices.
Previous recipients are not eligible for nomination within five years of receiving the award.
