Nominations due August 1
Purpose: To recognize early-career investigators who have demonstrated outstanding promise for research contributions in environmental chemistry and impactful service to the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Environmental Chemistry (ENVR).
Description: One awardee will be selected each year. The awardee will receive a plaque and $2000. The awardee is expected to attend and be recognized at the Fall ACS National Meeting.
Eligibility: The primary criteria for this award are (i) the independence, creativity, and impact of environmental chemistry research led by the early-career investigator and (ii) their participation and service contributions to ENVR. Nominees must have at least three years of membership in the Division and, at the time of nomination, be within the first ten years of their career as independent researchers, following their PhD or postdoctoral position(s).
Nomination: All nominations must be made by a member of ENVR; self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. The following information is required:
- Nominator’s name, affiliation, email address, and relationship to nominee
- Full name, professional title, affiliation, and email address of nominee
- ACS membership number and ENVR membership status of nominee
- Nomination letter emphasizing the nominee’s research achievements/impact and service to the ENVR division (less than 1000 words, pdf)
- First letter of support for this nomination (less than 1000 words, pdf)
- Second letter of support for this nomination (less than 1000 words, pdf)
- Nominee’s CV (up to 5 pages) with a description of their educational background, professional affiliations and positions, previous awards, publication list, funding history, patents, and service record (with priority on service to ENVR, pdf)
- The nomination package with all the materials should be assembled as one pdf file and sent to the designated email address indicated on the nomination form.
Timeline: Nominations will only be accepted between May 1 and August 1. Please, make sure that nomination packages are submitted as a single pdf file and conform to the requirements described above. Late and incomplete packages will not be considered.
Selection: The awardee is selected from the eligible pool of nominees by a subcommittee appointed by the Chair of the Awards Committee. Subcommittee members must disclose any conflicts of interest with nominees. The award will be granted regardless of race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, disability status, and educational background.
